Bore Baths

The Great Artesian Basin is the largest and deepest artesian basin in the world, extending over 1,700,000 square kilometres, and provides the only source of fresh water through much of inland Australia. Water temperatures range from 30 to 100 °C (86 to 212 °F). The basin was used for thousands of years by indigenous Australians. The Burren Junction Artesian Bore was drilled in the early 1900s and offered a secure water source for households and graziers in those early years. Today, the bore at Burren Junction is a hive of activity in the winter months, offering hot, healing water to locals as well and myriad visiting tourists who camp at the bore site, which is situated only 3kms east of the township.

Burren Bore is open from the Easter long weekend to the October long weekend (6 am to 9pm). Cost is $5 per site.
